Natalie Wood will be the next Executive Director

On behalf of the Board of Directors, I am pleased to announce that Natalie Wood will be the next Executive Director of The Inn.

Natalie comes to us from the YWCA Clark County in Vancouver, Washington, where she’s worked for almost 8 years, including as the Director of Programs for over 5 years. In her most recent position, Natalie provided oversight and direction to five programs serving survivors of child abuse and neglect, domestic violence, and sexual assault, ultimately providing service to more than 11,000 individuals on a yearly basis and managing annual budgets of over $2.2 million. She has also served as the Director of the YWCA Clark County’s Independent Living Skills Program that serves youth transitioning out of foster care, and her passion for working with youth and young adults has been a driving force throughout her career.

Natalie holds an MSW from Portland State University with a specialized focus on leadership and administration. She has extensive experience in nonprofit leadership, contract and grant management, financial oversight, and philanthropic development. We believe her strong dedication to mission-based and participant-centered work will be a natural fit with what makes The Inn so special.

Natalie takes over from Tom Mitchell, who has served as The Inn’s Executive Director for the past thirty years. Tom’s steady leadership and unwavering focus on service to our clients has built The Inn into one of the area’s most respected organizations serving youth and young families dealing with difficult life situations. Tom will work with Natalie to ensure a smooth transition, and we will always consider Tom a close member of the family of The Inn. His record of service to this organization is frankly astounding, and we’ll look forward to honoring his tenure with The Inn soon.

The Inn worked with the Nonprofit Association of Oregon to help find our next Executive Director. Our work began in March, and we brought in a very strong pool of over 60 applications from across the country. After a rigorous vetting and interview process, we are confident that we have found our next great Executive Director in Natalie.

Natalie has described this position as her “dream job.” In speaking with her, she has made it clear that she is not only excited about this opportunity, but feels honored to fill the position for an organization that is doing such important, life-changing work. Natalie will officially begin on September 1st, and she is looking forward to meeting all of you.
